Authorities are trying to find the vehicle pictured above, which is believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident in Isanti County Thursday evening that killed a 15-year-old boy.
The Isanti County Sheriff's Office says it was called to 285th Ave. NE east of Highway 65 in Isanti at 8:15 p.m. and arrived to find the boy severely injured. He died later after being taken to Cambridge Medical Center.
The boy has been identified as Antonio Demueles, of Isanti, and investigations found he was seen earlier in the evening skateboarding on the center line of the road in dark clothing.
Video footage obtained from a nearby business show a white pickup truck traveling westbound on 285th Ave.
This is the vehicle believed to have been the one to have hit Demeules, with the sheriff's department saying the driver "may not have known they hit a child" due to Demeules' "small stature."
The sheriff's office says they believe this is a "terrible accident" and not one done "with malicious intent."
The boy's father, Jeffrey Demeules, told KARE 11 he had gone looking for his son when he failed to return home, and came across a group of children who told him a boy had been hit by a car. By the time he got to the hospital, his son had died.
Authorities want the public's help finding the vehicle, which it describes as a white standard cab truck with a topper, that has possible front or driver's side damage.
Anyone with information should call the sheriff's office tip line on 763-691-2426.
