Police seek 'dirty' Chevy in connection with groping at Ramsey park

Officials have released a more detailed description of the vehicle a man suspected of groping a girl at a park may be driving.

The teenager reported a man with a metal detector "touched her inappropriately" at Emerald Pond Park in Ramsey Sunday afternoon, and officials are seeking the public's help in identifying the man.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday people who live near the park or go there frequently say the man with a metal detector drives a dirty, white Chevrolet Suburban. The SUV has two horizontal doors in the rear hatch, instead of a lift gate.

The teenager described the man as being in his mid-20s, but those who have seen the man say he's probably in his mid-to-late 30s or early 40s.

He's also described by the teenager as being 5-foot-7 with a medium build, with short, messy, dirty blond hair and a "light shadow type beard" with a tattoo on one bicep.

If anyone has any information about the alleged suspect or his vehicle, they are asked to call the sheriff's office at 763-427-1212.
