Police, SWAT team resolve standoff in North Minneapolis

Police deployed a robot to end a standoff involving an armed man who barricaded himself inside a North Minneapolis home, WCCO reports.

Few details have been released, but police said the situation is "pretty much over."

KSTP says a SWAT negotiation team was on the scene.

One man, a woman and a child were able to safely escape from the residence, according to the Star Tribune.

Officers had asked people to avoid the area until the suspect was in custody, the Pioneer Press reports. Neighbors were also being told to stay in their homes and away from windows.

Police responded to the area around 4:30 a.m. after a report the man had hostages in a home in the 3500 block of Newton Avenue.
