Police: Woman fatally shot in Minneapolis parking lot

Investigators believe it started with an altercation in a business then moved outside.

A woman is dead following a shooting in Minneapolis Friday afternoon.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, it happened around 1:15 p.m. at the 400 block of Broadway Ave. W. WCCO says it was in the parking lot of a strip mall.

Investigators say there was an altercation of sorts between a man and a woman – who have not yet been named – in one of the businesses. Then it moved to the parking lot, and that's where the shooting happened.

When police arrived, they found the woman and had her taken to North Memorial Medical Center. Medical professionals there pronounced her deceased.

Authorities believe the suspect and the victim had known each other.

Police will be in the area Friday evening and Saturday to speak with business owners and community members. Anyone with questions or helpful information is encouraged to stop by.
