A Renaissance master, ancient clay sculptures and Facebook all helped the Minneapolis Institute of Arts reach record-breaking attendance this year.

The Pioneer Press reports MIA leaders say exhibitions featuring painting master Rembrandt and the Terracotta Warriors from China were among those that helped propel the Institute's increase in both memberships and visitors. They also benefited from a concerted social media campaign.

The museum counted nearly half again as many visitors during the just-completed fiscal year than the year before. The total attendance hit 680,000, higher than the next highest year nearly a decade ago of almost 600,000.
