Power back on after outage in downtown Minneapolis; fire blamed
Power was restored at about 8 a.m. Friday after several blocks in downtown Minneapolis lost electricity for about 90 minutes.
Buildings affected included City Hall, police headquarters, U.S. Bank Plaza, Pillsbury Center and the Star Tribune, the Star Tribune reported.
The outage was related to a fire in an electrical vault at the U.S. West building shortly before midnight, the newspaper reported.
WCCO reported that city officials said that most traffic signals in the area were working again, but that some were flashing red. Drivers were asked to be patient while crews re-set the affected lights.
