The Twins could have a serious impact on the Tigers' postseason plans as they open a three-game set in Detroit Friday night. The Associated Press says the second-place Tigers are just two games behind AL Central-leading Chicago.

Minnesota will face Detroit's Rick Porcello who'll need to watch out for Joe Mauer. The AP says he's batting .426 with two homers and 13 RBIs in his last 15 games.

Sam Deduno will take the mound for the Twins and could have his hands full with Tigers' Miguel Cabrera, an MVP candidate, who's batting .415 with six homers and 14 RBIs during a 10-game hitting streak.

Star Tribune Twins blogger Parker Hageman says Deduno's "crazy fastball" could earn him a spot in the Twins' 2013 rotation.
