With the passage Tuesday of a law allowing medical use of marijuana for cancer patients in Massachusetts -- and the legalization of pot in Colorado and Washington for recreational use -- proponents and detractors of legalized marijuana in Minnesota are pondering the future of a similar measures.

With the passage Tuesday of a law allowing medical use of marijuana for cancer patients in Massachusetts -- and the legalization of pot in Colorado and Washington for recreational use -- proponents and detractors of legalized marijuana in Minnesota are pondering the future of a similar measures, KMSP-TV reported.

Medical marijuana almost made it to Minnesota once before, as lawmakers passed a bill to allow its use in 2009 -- which in turn was vetoed by then-Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

Seventeen of 46 Minnesota hospitals included in a recent national study received an “A” rating for hospital safety. That's according to a report by The Leapfrog Group, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that examined publicly available data on patient injuries, medical and medication errors, and infections.
