Purrfect combo? Cat video festival to be held at State Fair


The Walker Art Center's International Cat Video Festival, a smash success that drew 10,000 people in its debut last year, will return this year at a new venue: the Minnesota State Fair grandstand during the fair, Aug. 28. The grandstand holds up to 13,000.

"We had high hopes for it, but I think even we were surprised by the amount of people turning out," festival producer Scott Stulen told MPR.

"It's a great fit," fair marketing official Renee Pearson, told the Star Tribune. "We had been talking about a way to incorporate film into the fair, and I had the Walker on my list to call."

A new category in the festival will be added this year, "Cat on a Stick," – videos of Minnesota cats only.

Tickets will be $10 and go on sale March 9, available on the fair's website. Here is the people's choice award from last year's festival:
