Driver charged with hitting, killing mom on bicycle due in court today

Authorities say the driver of a pickup was distracted by his cell phone when he struck and killed a woman bicycling on a roadside in Rock County Monday. The victim was towing her two children, ages 1 and 4, in a bike trailer at the time; their injuries are not life threatening. The driver was charged with vehicular homicide Tuesday, and he's due in court later today.

Man who bent car door to save driver dubbed 'real-life Superman'

The man who bent the door frame of a burning car to rescue another man trapped inside is being called a real-life Superman. Bob Renning's story of "super-human strength" in New Brighton over the weekend is being told across the globe. "Superman" and the man he rescued got together for the first time since the ordeal for a celebratory beer.

Just when it started going well, Mauer lands on DL with injury

The Minnesota Twins placed first baseman Joe Mauer on the 15-day disabled list today with a strained oblique. Mauer suffered the injury after slapping an RBI double down the left-field line in Minnesota’s 10-2 win over the Royals last night. The hit, however, extended Mauer’s hitting streak to 12 games.
