Vikings announce Adrian Peterson will play this week

The Vikings have announced that running back Adrian Peterson will play with the team this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Officials say the Vikings take child welfare very seriously, but added that the legal process should be allowed to go forward before any further judgments are made. Peterson is facing child abuse charges in Texas for disciplining his 4-year-old son with a switch.

Cycling pianist promotes music, athletics with 2,000-mile journey

In an effort to promote music and athletics for kids, a Michigan blues pianist and his team are biking along the Mississippi River – with a piano. Mark Braun and the Mr. B’s Joybox Express team are pulling a 350-pound piano the length of the Mississippi River to advocate and raise money for children’s arts and athletic programs. They've performed several shows in Minnesota the past two weeks, and plan more for the remainder of their journey.

Franken has 13-point lead over McFadden in new poll

Incumbent DFL Sen. Al Franken holds a commanding lead over Mike McFadden, his Republican challenger. The latest Minnesota poll by the Star Tribune shows that 49 percent of likely voters polled support Franken, while McFadden has the support of 36 percent. Eleven percent remain undecided. Franken is most popular in the metro area, while McFadden has support in northern Minnesota, which has traditionally been DFL territory. The mining issue has prompted some voters to change their allegiance.
