Report: Matt Cassel named Vikings starting QB

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports is reporting that Matt Cassel has been named the Vikings starting quarterback. Glazer says the team was informed during a meeting Monday morning. He adds that the Vikings love Teddy Bridgewater, but Cassel did nothing to lose the job.

Poll: Dayton holds 9-point lead over challenger Johnson

The first major public poll of the election season shows Gov. Mark Dayton with a solid lead over Republican candidate Jeff Johnson. KSTP’s Survey USA poll has Dayton with 49 percent and Johnson, who’s a Hennepin County commissioner, with 40 percent. The poll surveyed 600 Minnesota voters within a week of when state Republicans picked Johnson in the primary election.

Delta plans to hire 1,800 flight attendants

Delta Air Lines plans to hire at least 1,800 new flight attendants over the next year. The Atlanta-based airline, which is the major carrier out of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, projects an expansion in its flight schedule. The airline began taking applications last week. The last time Delta had openings for flight attendants, the company received more than 100,000 applications.
