Propane industry urges early fuel buying to head off possible winter shortages

Governor Mark Dayton is meeting with the state’s propane suppliers today to try to avert shortages. Last winter, the state experienced a limited supply of the fuel, which ran up prices for rural residents and farms that heat with propane. Since then, the industry has expanded production and storage capacity.

‘Weather whiplash': Muggy, stormy today; October-like tomorrow

It will turn stormy later today. Tonight's storms come with a slight risk of severe weather, especially in the southern portion of the state. One to 2 inches of rain is possible, which brings a risk of high water in southeastern Minnesota, where the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch. When the rain stops, expect much cooler temperatures, with the chance of frost this weekend.
