RadioShack is closing 7 more stores in Minnesota

The company said it's still evaluating the future of its remaining 1,000 stores.

RadioShack will close hundreds of stores over the coming weeks – including seven in Minnesota – after its second bankruptcy filing in as many years.

The struggling electronics retailer is shutting down 552 of its stores, according to the Business Insider, of which 187 are closing immediately with the remaining 365 to follow by the first week of April.

Those chosen for closure have low sales and high rent costs, the website notes. The fate of the 1,000 stores RadioShack will have left remains up in the air, with the company saying it will "continue to evaluate" their future.

You can see which Minnesota stores are listed for closure on RadioShack's website, with each closing location running a clearance sale. Here's the full list:

  • Elk Park Center – 19178 Freeport St, Elk River
  • Richfield Shoppes – 6535 Nicollet Ave, Richfield
  • Hibbing Marketplace – 141 9Th Ave W, Hibbing
  • Thunderbird Mall S.C.1401 12Th Ave S, Virginia
  • Crystal Shopping, 109 Willow Bend, Crystal
  • Highland Plaza, 3009 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis
  • Minnehaha Mall, 2868 S 26th Ave, Minneapolis

The closures will leave Minnesota with about a dozen RadioShack-branded stores.

The Texas-based RadioShack filed for bankruptcy in 2015 and during that year closed around 2,400 stores across the country, USA Today reports. This included more than 20 stores in Minnesota.

This most recent bankruptcy filing came just weeks ago.

RadioShack is the latest chain to announce store closures in Minnesota in recent weeks.

Gander Mountain announced three of its Minnesota stores would close after filing for bankruptcy protection, while Gordmans could potentially shutter six Minnesota stores as part of its own bankruptcy plan. And J.C. Penney announced last week eight of its Minnesota locations will be closing soon.
