20-year-old victim identified in Sartell shooting; man arrested

The 20-year-old victim of a shooting in Sartell Thursday has died, and police have arrested a suspect who was being held at the Stearns County Jail, WJON reports.

Few details were available about what might have prompted the shooting, but the victim, identified Friday afternoon as Maurice Galvin Jr., was shot in the chest at a strip mall Sprint Store at about noon, and he died at about 7:30 p.m., the St. Cloud Times reports.

An unidentified driver initially took the victim to CentraCare Health Plaza in St. Cloud, and he was taken by ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud Times reports.

The 23-year-old suspect is expected for a first court hearing Friday. The victim and suspect knew each other, investigators said.

Officers entered the store to clear it and found unspecified evidence of the shooting behind the Sprint Store, police said, KARE 11 reported. Sartell schools were secured and students were not let out of the building during the incident, KARE reported.
