Recall: 900K pounds of chicken shipped to schools and stores may contain metal

The products were shipped to stores like Walmart and schools.

Food safety authorities are recalling 933,272 pounds of breaded chicken that was shipped to schools and stores throughout the U.S.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, some products from OK Food, Inc. in Oklahoma may contain bits of metal.

The food company discovered the problem earlier this week after getting some complaints. Five consumers reported finding "metal objects" in ready-to-each chicken products.

The company investigated and figured out the metal came from its conveyor belt.

So ready-to-eat breaded chicken products produced between Dec. 19, 2016 and March 7, 2017 are being recalled.

The products were shipped to schools that use Smart Foods4Schools products. It's also been shipped to Walmart under a Great Value label. They all have “P-7092” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

You can see a full list of products here, or view their labels here. A more specific list of where the products were distributed will be posted here once there's more information.

If you have any of these products, you should either throw the meat out out or return it to the store.

So far, no injuries have been reported in relation to eating the chicken.
