Recycling holiday lights made easy

If you're putting up new energy-efficient holiday lights this year, you now have a place to take your old ones. MPR News reports The Recycling Association of Minnesota has a plan to make dropping off old lights as easy as possible.

Hundreds of neighborhood hardware stores will take them, as well as other businesses. The RAM website has a complete list.

It says the program hires more than 200 people with disabilities at vocational centers throughout the state to dismantle and re-use every part of the light strands.

The Associated Press reports RAM says the copper, glass and plastic found in older lights don't belong in landfills.
