A Red Wing eighth-grader died this weekend after being shot while hunting in western Wisconsin.

Pierce County officials say Logan Hinrichs, 14, died of a gunshot wound while hunting in Maiden Rock, the Rochester Post Bulletin says. The incident remains under investigation and no details about how he was shot have been released.

According to his obituary, he died Sunday. A memorial service is set for Thursday at the First Covenant Church. A fund for the family to help cover funeral costs has been set up on the fundraising website GoFundMe.
