Rep. Keith Ellison is planning to unveil a 304-page autobiography, "My Country 'Tis of Thee," on Sept. 24.
The book promises a "provocative look at America and what needs to change to accommodate different races and beliefs," the book's description says. The description calls the book "deeply patriotic."
The description also says, "Filled with anecdotes, statistics, and social commentary, Ellison touches on everything from the Tea Party to Obama, from race to the immigration debate and more. He also draws some very clear distinctions between parties and shows why the deep polarization is unhealthy for America."
Of course, memoirs are a favorite hobby of politicians, especially among those with higher aspirations. Among them:
Michele Bachmann's "Core of Conviction" (2011)
Tim Pawlenty's "Courage to Stand" (2011)
Jesse Ventura's "I Ain't Got Time to Bleed" (1999)
