Report: 1 dead in plane crash near Princeton

A small plane's pilot is believed to be dead after a crash Monday near the runway at the Princeton Municipal Airport, roughly 50 miles north of the Twin Cities, WCCO reports.

Investigators do not believe there were any other occupants in the crash, which happened at about 12:45 p.m., WCCO reports.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirms a single-engine aircraft crashed in Upper Whitefish Lake near Brainerd early Sunday morning. The Pioneer Press reports the pilot was killed and a passenger was injured. An FAA spokesman said the small plane is submerged about 75 yards offshore, but had no future details as of noon Sunday.
