When it comes to raising and spending political funds, Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann is only second to Speaker of the House John Boehner, Poltico reports.
Citing numbers reported by OpenSecrets.org, Politico says Bachmann raised and spent $16 million though this year through July. By contrast, Bachmann's Democratic opponent, Jim Graves, raised more than $578,000 and spent close to $227,000 in the same time period.
The report comes as the final homestretch to the election begins. Last week, Bachmann unveiled her first political ad and agreed to three debates with Graves.
Graves conducted an internal poll earlier this month and said the race between him and the incumbent Bachmann was even.
Bachmann has kept a high public profile this year with frequent accusations of Islamic extremists infiltrating the U.S. government.
