Report: Maple Grove hockey coach resigns amid swirling questions

The Star Tribune reports that sources say Maple Grove High School Gary Stafano has resigned after a rocky season that included the suspension of more than half the team after an off-ice incident. The coach told his players after the team's final game on Wednesday, sources said, although school officials would not confirm the news.

Few details have been released about what happened in the off-ice incident, except that it occurred at a private residence in December, and a total of 13 players were suspended in January as a result.

The coach himself was briefly suspended but reinstated in January.

School officials have declined to comment on allegations that a sex tape was involved.
