Report: Minn. greenhouse gas emissions trend downward

Greenhouse gas emissions in Minnesota dipped about 3 percent from 2005 through 2010, according to a new report to be unveiled this week in the Minnesota Legislature, the Star Tribune reports.

Utility emissions dropped 13 percent, and emissions from transportation (mostly our cars and trucks) dropped 10 percent over that time period, the newspaper says.

But it's not clear whether greenhouse gas emission decreases will be a continuing trend. Industrial emissions propelled total emissions up 2 percent from 2009 to 2010, the newspaper says.
