St. Louis Park Lifetime Fitness evacuated after chlorine leak, 1 hospitalized

Emergency crews are on the scene of Lifetime Fitness in St. Louis Park for a report of a chlorine leak Friday morning.

WCCO reports visitors at the facility located on the 5500 block of Cedar Lake Road were evacuated to a nearby Metro Transit Bus until it is safe to return inside.

Multiple people are receiving medical attention on site. KARE 11 says one person was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.

A Lifetime Fitness spokesperson tells the Star Tribune the leak was caused by human error during routine maintenance on a whirlpool. The facility is expected to reopen around noon.

Lifetime Fitness is located near The Shops at West End development which includes several stores and restaurants.
