Twin Cities ATM fees lowest in US
Banks charge an average of about $2.20 in the Twin Cities to people who pull cash from an automated teller machine that is outside their own bank's network. That compares to the nationwide high in Denver of $2.80, MPR reports. Customers often get hit with yet another fee, charged by their own bank for using an out-of-network ATM. That average charge of $1.58 in the Twin Cities is about mid-way between the nationwide high and low for that fee.
U.S. Bank latest bank to raise overdraft fees
U.S. Bank is bumping up overdraft fees for all its accounts beginning June 29, the Minneapolis-based bank confirmed Wednesday. The bank's new $35 overdraft fee brings it in line with the country's biggest financial institutions, including Bank of America, Huffington Post reports. Bank officials note that the 15 million-customer bank is eliminating one other fee and lowering yet another.

Free checking returns to TCF Bank
Wayzata-based TCF Financial Corp. says it is eliminating monthly account maintenance fees for all customers, regardless of minimum balance, direct deposit or transaction level requirements. The Business Journal notes TCF Bank began charging fees in early 2010 after new federal regulations were expected to reduce revenue from overdraft fees.

Analysts: Gas prices to continue to rise in Twin Cities
Experts predict the cost of a gallon of fuel in the Twin Cities will continue to rise over the next few weeks. The average price of gas in the metro jumped more than 10 cents in the past week -- averaging $3.55 per gallon. That's higher than the national average.
