Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said Wednesday that they were sniffing around some veteran quarterbacks and would likely sign one in the coming weeks.

It didn't take more than two days, however, because according to a report from Fox 26 in Houston, the Vikings have signed veteran quarterback Case Keenum.

Keenum played at the University of Houston where he became the only quarterback in FBS history to pass for more than 5,000 yards three times. He went on to play for the Houston Texas from 2012-2014 and he spent the last two years with the Rams, where he started nine games last season ahead of the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Jared Goff.

Keenum threw for 2,201 yards, 9 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last season.

He spent the last two years with the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams.

Pro Football Talk notes that Keenum is the main reason the NFL made changes to its concussion protocol for in-game head injuries.
