Minneapolis police tell WCCO that a 10-year-old boy has lost a leg in a train accident Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened near Webber Park.

The station says the boy – and two others – had been playing on a slow-moving train, hopping on and off of it.

Fox 9 says the boy fell off and was dragged for a while.

The 10-year-old lost one leg below the knee, police tell KARE 11. According to the station, the boy suffered injuries to his other leg and had severe head trauma.

Authorities used a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. KARE says the boy has been taken to North Memorial Medical Center and is expected to recover.

The train was with the Canadian Pacific Railway and was headed from Saskatchewan to St. Paul, the Star Tribune reports.

According to Operation Lifesaver, five people in Minnesota were injured by trains in 2013 after walking on rail property. Five others were killed.
