Five people were injured in a shooting outside a Maplewood nightclub early Saturday morning.
Maplewood Police Chief Paul Schnell told GoMN a fight broke out inside the club around 1:30 a.m.
Initially it was reported that all shots were fired outside the club, but now police have said they believe one man was shot inside.
Then the altercation moved out to the parking lot. Schnell said as many as 60 shots were fired by multiple shooters – some of the shooters were in vehicles.
Officials had already been in the area responding to a different disturbance when they saw a bunch of people running out of the club.
"An officer says he could hear one of the bullets pass by his ear. It's amazing not more people have been shot in this situation," Schnell told FOX 9.
Police said the injuries don't appear to be life threatening.
So far, no arrests have been reported. The incident is under investigation.
The club closed right after the shooting and will remain closed Saturday night.
This is not the first time police are investigating a crime at Stargate.
In 2015, a security guard was attacked by a group. That ended with the guard fatally shooting one of the young men.
Then in 2011, three people were injured in a stabbing.
