Reports: Inver Grove Heights' police chief is under investigation

An Inver Grove Heights police chief is under criminal investigation, and he's on paid-leave until pending the outcome.

FOX 9 says the city isn't revealing what exactly is being investigated due to privacy laws, but city officials told the station the allegations against Chief Larry Stanger are "very serious."

The city heard of the complaints in February, KARE 11 reports.

According to the Pioneer Press, the allegations came from another agency that was doing an investigation. That led officials to believe that the chief has criminal involvement.

It is not known how long he will be away from his duties.

Stanger has been with the department since 1989. The paper says he was named top cop in January 2012.
