2 hospitalized, several injured after Pedal Pub tips over

A Pedal Pub careening down a Minneapolis hill Thursday toppled onto its side, spilling passengers into the street and injuring several.

KARE 11 reports two riders were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.

WCCO says 10 people suffered minor injuries, mostly scrapes, in the accident that occurred as the vehicle rolled down South First Street and the driver tried to make a right turn onto Fifth Avenue.

A Pedal Pub is a non-motorized tavern-on-wheels powered by the pedaling of a dozen or so riders. They're rented by groups that pedal while a driver does the steering. Police tell WCCO this pub was traveling too fast as it tried to make a turn, but authorities said alcohol did not seem to be a factor.

Witnesses of the crash were buzzing on social media after some riders were being taken away on stretchers, City Pages said.
