House passes tax bill over DFL objections

The Minnesota House approved a tax bill that would freeze business property taxes and create several new tax breaks. Governor Dayton and other DFLers say the freeze will drive up the state's budget deficit in the next biennium. The tax breaks include incentives for investing in startup companies and hiring veterans.

House passes nearly $500 million worth of construction projects

Before taking up the stadium bill, the Minnesota House authorized half a billion dollars for state-funded construction projects. It includes money for repairs at the University of Minnesota and at state colleges and universities; roads, bridges, and transit; and a downpayment on renovations of the state Capitol building.
