Retail cleaners stage strike in downtown Minneapolis

Dozens of non-union contract workers who clean big-box retail stores across the Twin Cities -- including Target, Home Depot, Kmart, Kohl’s and Sears -- have walked off the job for the second time this year, Minnesota Public Radio reports.

Janitors who work for third-party cleaning vendors formed a picket line near Target's headquarters in downtown Minneapolis early Tuesday morning.

Members of the Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en Lucha declared the two-day protest over what they call unfair labor practices. The retail cleaning workers also want labor contracts that give them the right to form a union.

Hundreds of workers also walked off the job in February for a similar protest.
