School officials at a Catholic high school in Rochester are warning students that they risk discipline if they protest the "departure" of a teacher, the Rochester Post Bulletin reports.

A letter sent Monday from Lourdes Principal Suzanne Lagerwaard and Michael Brennan, Rochester Catholic Schools director of schools, focuses on what the letter calls the "separation of employment" of religion teacher Michelle Weedman.

School officials and Weedman could not immediately be reached for comment Monday morning, the newspaper reported. The school was closed Monday due to weather.

The letter said school officials cannot discuss specifics about the departure. School officials have been fielding emails and phone calls about it, and it has been a topic of discussion on social media, the newspaper says.

The letter also said: "It has come to our attention that a protest or demonstration may occur in response. While we are sensitive to the needs and concerns of the student body, there will be zero tolerance for insubordination to faculty, staff and administration." Students risk "appropriate" discipline if they disrupt the learning environment or miss class, the letter says.
