They are among the 400 nationwide The Associated Press says the company is closing, as it moves its attentions more to online sales.

In a statement on its Facebook page, rue 21 said: "It’s true – we are closing some stores. It was a difficult but necessary decision. We still have hundreds of locations across the country, and our website rue21.com, open for business."

Dates for the closures have not yet been set. The closures represent a third of the rue 21s in Minnesota, leaving the state with 12 locations.

Customers who have accrued "rueBUCKS" reward points will not be able to redeem them at closing locations.

There have been a raft of store closure announcements since the start of the year, with retailers including JCPenney, Macy's and Gander Mountain among them.
