Is Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak the best mayor in the world? The competition is fierce. He's up against mayors from Peru, Israel, Slovania and ... El Paso. He's among five finalists from North America, one of whom (Newark's Cory Booker) dashed into a burning home to save a resident recently. Kinda hard to top that.

The World Mayors Foundation, an international think tank, organizes the competition. It invites you to vote now. (It also invites you to leave comments about your favorite mayor's achievements, and curiously, his or her shortcomings.)

There's a little more about the competition in MinnPost.
