Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak is scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte Tuesday night, according to the schedule. Rybak's remarks are part of the build up to First Lady Michelle Obama's speech.

The mayor tweeted Tuesday that he will speak sometime between 6:35 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. central.

R.T. Rybak is the first Minneapolis mayor to speak at the DNC since Hubert Humphrey delivered a historic civil rights address in 1948.

Rybak went on Fox News to defend Obama, noting that in many ways, Americans are better off than they were four years ago:
