Lucifer Nguyen is still on the run but now he's charged with five felonies, including second-degree murder.

Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced the charges Monday afternoon. Nguyen has been pursued by law enforcement since Saturday morning.

The criminal complaint against the 44-year-old New Hope man says he robbed a woman at gunpoint in a Mendota Heights home.

While being chased by police, Nguyen first hid in a senior care center and then slipped into an office building, the complaint says. He's accused of killing Beverly Cory, 48, who worked for one of the businesses in the office complex.

An autopsy found she died of a single gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities recovered Cory's car the next day at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Lake Elmo.

In addition to murder, Nguyen is charged with two counts of robbery and one each of burglary and kidnapping. Convictions on all the charges could bring up to 120 years in prison.

Officials say Nguyen's current whereabouts aren't know, but they believe he's still in the Twin Cities metro area.

People who live in the area are asked to lock their homes and vehicles, and to call 911 if they see anything suspicious.

The original story from earlier Monday is below.

Search for 'armed and dangerous' homicide suspect continues

Officials are still looking for an "armed and dangerous" man suspected of killing a 47-year-old woman in Mendota Heights on Saturday.

The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Lucifer Nguyen. Police believe he killed Beverly Cory while evading law enforcement following an armed robbery Saturday morning, the Pioneer Press says

The search for him has now entered its third day, with officials saying he was last seen in Stillwater on Saturday at about 4 p.m., police said on Facebook

Meanwhile Cory's car, which police believe Nguyen stole, was found Sunday afternoon at the Washington County Fairgrounds, a news release from the Dakota County Sheriff's Office says.

Officials say Nguyen's current whereabouts aren't know, but they believe he's still in the Twin Cities metro area.

He may be on foot, asking people for a ride, or taking public transportation, the release says.

People who live in the area are asked to lock their homes and vehicles, and to call 911 if they see anything suspicious.

Nguyen is described as being 5-foot-5 and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, according to police.

Nguyen has not been charged in connection to Cory's death.

Anyone who knows where Nguyen may be should call the Dakota County Sheriff's Office at 651-322-2323 or 911.

A look at what happened

Police haven't said a lot about what led to Cory's death. But media reports say police were on their way to an armed robbery call in Mendota Heights around 9 a.m. Saturday when they spotted a vehicle that matched the description of the robbery suspect's car.

Police pursued the vehicle, with the suspect eventually ditching it and fleeing on foot into a senior living facility, WCCO reported.

Officials evacuated the senior center to search for the suspect, but he apparently left and went to the nearby Mendota Heights Business Center.

They found Cory dead in a nearby office building, KARE 11 said

Police said there's no known connection between Nguyen and Cory.

Mendota Heights police on Facebook said they spoke with those who knew Cory, and said if she "was half as amazing, caring, and resilient" as those loved ones, then "the world lost an amazing soul."
