The body of a man has been found near Monticello in Wright County, in the area where searchers have been looking for 24-year-old Tyler Berg, who has been missing for the past week.

Wright County Sheriff Joe Hagerty released a statement Sunday afternoon, saying volunteers from the group United Legacy who were searching for Berg found the body at about 2:30 p.m. in a marsh south of Interstate 94 near Dalton Avenue.

Berg, a native of Austin, Minnesota, most recently lived in St. Cloud where he was studying computer science. Berg was last seen at his apartment in St. Cloud Sunday evening, Nov. 22.

His black Mercury Cougar was found abandoned in Otter Creek Park in Monticello, about 30 miles from St. Cloud, in the early hours of Monday morning, according to the sheriff’s Office.

Items of clothing belonging to Berg were also found in the park and at the Monticello Country Club golf course.

Family, friends and volunteers have searched for Berg the past several days in the Monticello area.

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy and make a positive identification of the deceased, Hagerty said in the statement.
