Crews suspend search again for man missing in the St. Croix River

Publish date:

Authorities have suspended the search for a man they believe fell into the St. Croix River Friday night after 8:30 p.m., the Chisago County Sheriff's Office said.

A 26-year-old identified as Andrew Kenneth Remley was reported to have fallen in the river after slipping on an angled rock near the Taylors Falls Scenic Boat Tour Launch.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office responded with several other agencies and began to search but stopped just before 10 p.m. due to the speed and height of the river as well as being inhibited by the dark.

The Minnesota State Patrol provided air support searching on the banks of the river but were unable to locate the man.

Searching continued Saturday morning, but was put on hold again at noon.

Once again, officials suspended the search due to safety concerns.

The Sheriff's Office is reminding people to stay away from the St. Croix River at this time due to the speed and height of the waves and currents that are potentially dangerous.
