A college student from Minnesota who went missing on a solo hike in Arizona has been found alive. His father confirmed to KARE 11 Sunday night his son was "alive and well."

KARE11 reports Arizona law enforcement officers launched a search of the Superstition Mountains for Arizona State University student Michael Kmit. The 21-year-old was reported missing early Sunday morning.

Kmit left Tempe Saturday afternoon to go hiking alone. His roommates noticed later that evening that he had not returned and the Maricopa County and Pinal County Sheriffs' Offices initiated a search.

Kmit's Mitsubishi was found at the Peralta Trailhead Sunday morning.
