Local artist Timothy Turenne of Richfield has won the Minnesota Turkey Stamp contest for a third time.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources' panel of judges selected Turenne's painting over three other finalists and it will be featured on the 2017 turkey stamp, which goes on sale in 13 months.

Turenne won the turkey stamp contest in 2007 and 2010, along with other recent wildlife stamp-painting competitions, the DNR says.

Turkey hunting licenses are $5 for ages 13 through 17, $26 for anyone 18 and up and free for kids 12 and under.
