Four of five people in a pickup truck died and another was seriously injured after a crash in Pine County Tuesday night. The pickup turned in front of an oncoming semitrailer while making a left turn on a road near Askov, roughly 95 miles north of the Twin Cities.

Pileup on snowy I-94 near Alexandria kills four

The crash reportedly involved six vehicles and at least four fatalities. It occurred in heavy snow a little after 3 p.m. Eastbound traffic on the Interstate was detoured and the State Patrol was working to reconstruct the accident.

Another semi slips into icy water

A third semi-truck slid into a frozen lake Friday afternoon. The Star Tribune reports the 18-wheeler crashed on I-494 near Rockford Road in Plymouth. No one was injured. This is the third time in a week that a semi had to be recovered from icy water. A semi traveling on Hwy. 14 near Waseca slid onto Clear Lake Wednesday afternoon. Last week, a semi pulling a Target trailer plunged into a pond along I-94 near Monticello.

Gas leak, cigarette possibly caused house explosion

A neighbor rushed to the aid of a family whose house exploded in Tracy over the weekend, charging into the burning home to save a baby. The mother and three daughters who lived there were badly injured. Neighbors said the woman told them she had lit a cigarette prior to the blast.
