U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar isn't done in Washington, D.C.

In an interview with the Star Tribune, the Democrat said she'll be seeking re-election in 2018, despite some hoping she'd runfor governor of Minnesota instead.

“The fact that I’ve been able to get through the gridlock many, many times means that you can’t just walk away when it’s an ugly time," she told the paper. "It means you have a duty and obligation to keep doing your job. It may sound Pollyanna but it’s what I decided."

You can read her whole interview with the Star Tribune here.

Klobuchar, who was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006, was called the most productive member of Congress this year because she sponsored or co-sponsored 27 bills that became law – the most of anyone else, Medill on the Hill reported earlier this month. Klobuchar tends to focus on issues including foreign trade, health care, and crime, according to GovTrack.

As for the governor's race in Minnesota, two Democrats have said they'll be running to replace Gov. Mark Dayton, who isn't seeking re-election in 2018. They are: St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman and state Rep. Erin Murphy, who is also from St. Paul.

Reports indicate that people who are considering a run for governor were going to wait until Klobuchar made a decision on the governor's race, so more candidates are expected to announce their intentions in the weeks to come. MPR News put together a list of people who will likely throw their hat into the ring, you can read it here.
