So maybe retweeting a Minnesota love note won't fly with your Valentine. Minnesota Poet Laureate Joyce Sutphen tells the St. Cloud Times poetry can go a long way to make your sweetheart swoon. Check out the tips on how to write the perfect sonnet.

If you hit writer's block, Sutphen says, "Go online and find a good poem that you relate to, wrap it up with some roses. It's like driving a stick shift; you're not going to be perfect. My advice is it's no dishonor at all to go out and find a good poem and give it your beloved."

A 10-year-old girl in Maple Grove known as "Carly Valentine" went to a local nursing home and other places in town to give out Valentine's Day goodie bags and hugs. It's estimated she gave out 650 this year alone. She's done this for seven years now. FOX-9 shares her story.

Hennepin County judges married 23 couples during the Valentine's Day lunch break, KARE-11 reports. It's the third year the Fourth District has offered the free ceremonies. Last year, 46 couples got hitched on V-day.
