A man with a history of selling fake tickets to major events has got some jail time for trying his luck at the Super Bowl.

Calvin Eric Harris, 49, of Maryland, pleaded guilty earlier this week to possessing counterfeited intellectual property, and was sentenced to a year and a day with 30 days credit given for time served.

The Hennepin County Attorney said Harris was caught in the skyway on Super Bowl Sunday, trying to sell Super Bowl tickets.

He tried to flee when police approached and when they caught up with him, they found 10 counterfeit tickets and around $1,300 cash.

The money he'd taken from a victim he'd earlier sold to. Police tracked him down and returned the $1,300.

Hennepin County notes Harris had been convicted of aggravated forgery in Minneapolis in 2004, as well as similar offenses in Texas in 2016 and New York in 2000.

More than 150 counterfeit tickets were handed over by fans hoping to attend the Super Bowl in Minneapolis on Feb. 4, only to be turned away at the gate.

The Pioneer Press reported around two-dozen people were arrested in connection with the fake tickets, including a few who were found in possession of them at a hotel and the Mall of America.

Victims spent $400 to $5,000 on the tickets and didn’t find out they were fake until they arrived at the stadium, the newspaper notes.
