Several trees have been vandalized in Robbinsdale
We're not sure why, but some's been vandalizing trees in Robbinsdale.
The city posted some pictures to Facebook on Friday showing some trees with bark scraped off. It happened at Lakeview Terrace Park, and at least one of the damaged trees is expected to die.
The city says it takes pride in "maintaining an urban canopy and doesn't take the crime lightly."
Residents are asked to call 911 if they see anyone vandalizing trees.
Last month, another park in the Twin Cities area reported tree vandalism. About 20 trees in the Lebanon Hills Regional Park in Eagan were killed after someone removed a strip of bark all around each tree.
There’s a name for that practice: girdling or ring-barking. And it kills trees.
The Dakota County Sheriff offered a $5,000 reward to find whoever was damaging the Lebanon Hills Regional Park trees.
