There will soon be a new place in the cities to grab a burger and shake.
Shake Shack is opening its first Minnesota location – and it will be at the Mall of America, the megamall confirmed in an email news release Friday.
The fast food stand will open its 2,800 square-foot space next summer on the third floor in the mall's new food section, "Culinary on North," and will join other new arrivals including Melt Shop, Disco Fries, Naf Naf Grill and Piada.
The classic American fast food restaurant is primarily located on the East Coast, but have been on an expansion drive that has taken it international, with locations in the Middle East, the UK, Japan, Russia and Turkey.
They serve burgers, hotdogs, crinkle cut fries, frozen custard and – of course – shakes.
"This is a natural fit for Shake Shack’s first to the market location tapping into more than 40 million annual visitors," said the Mall of America's Liz McLay in the release.
According to Fox News, Shake Shack started in 2001 as a hotdog stand in a Manhattan park. The small stand was replaced by a full-sized kiosk in 2004, and now restaurants are open in 13 states and several other countries.
