Shakopee Shutterfly plant hiring 1,000 holiday workers

Online photo merchandise manufacturer Shutterfly is bulking up its holiday workforce at its Shakopee plant.

The California-based company, which primarily makes photo books, greeting cards and other gifts from customers' photos, opened a plant in Shakopee over the summer. KSTP says Shutterfly has hired about 100 people so far, and hopes to hire 900 more by Oct. 1.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal says Atlanta-based staffing company, Corestaff Services, is looking to fill 12-hour overnight shifts Mondays through Thursdays, as well as 12-hour day and night shifts Fridays through Sundays.

The jobs will be in customer service, production, printing, packaging, and machine and press operation, the Business Journal reports.

Work will begin later this month for the new hires and runs through December.

The contract jobs – which start at $9.75 an hour – could potentially turn into full-time positions after the holidays, according to the Business Journal.
