Sheriff: Body found in Mississippi River believed to be missing St. Cloud student

Video showed the 21-year-old walking on a railroad bridge across the Mississippi River.

Authorities recovered a body from the Mississippi River Friday evening, and they believe it's that of a missing St. Cloud State University student.

Jesse Dady, 21, was last seen early Saturday in downtown St. Cloud. But according to surveillance video, he later walked across a railroad bridge over the Mississippi River. The footage, which is poor quality, indicates that about one-third of the way across the bridge Dady may have fallen.

So officials have been searching the river this week. And around 6:20 p.m. Friday, they found a body.

It was in about 15 to 17 feet of water, and the Stearns County Sheriff's Office believes it may be Dady.

The body has been taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner for an autopsy and official identification.

According to KSTP, a search team with divers spent 10 hours looking on Thursday, then called off the efforts. So Dady's family hired a private company to take over.

The private company, Crossmon Consulting, conducted the search on Friday. When it found the body, it contacted the police department, which sent out the sheriff's office.
