Sheriff: Body pulled from Minneapolis lake after frozen coat found

A body was found under the ice of a popular Minneapolis lake connection Monday.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's said in an email news release Monday the body, an adult male's, was found in the channel between Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles around 2:30 p.m. Monday.

The sheriff's office and Minneapolis Fire Department had gotten a call about a jacket found frozen to the ice. The victim was found underneath the ice surface nearby, the release says.

The sheriff's office is investigating, and the county medical examiner will identify the victim.

Sheriff's office spokesperson Becca Gilbuena said there doesn't appear to be anything suspicious at this point.
